Purpose: The weeping woman depicts the need to be concerned about the souls of the lost and the prayers necessary to bathe the lost in prayers. It is the requirement to pray for one another and to be emotionally concerned about the needs of others.
In this work, the weeping woman both hides and stays in sight. She represents those, who cry out for the lost, the poor, and the needy. She hears, and listens to the crying voices amidst tears; she takes action through love and compassion.
In the bottom left corner of the painting sets a pitcher filled with tears. Private tears, tears from loved ones, and tears from the stranger you passed on the street because our Lord God sees and keeps every tear that falls. Revelations 5:8
The weeping woman holds a candle in her hand, and beneath it, the world reveals faces that seek, but know not what it is they are seeking. They seek Light, the Lord Jesus Christ. The symbolic candle flames up or wanes as the ascending smoke reflects our inconsistencies in prayer and unconditional love to both the brethren and the lost. We judge, we fail to forgive, or to encourage and help others causing the flame to wane. The Weeping Woman is called and is duty-bound to provide the knowledge of the Light to the world and to the saints through love. Remember, love brings forth the fruit of the Spirit.
If you are the weeping woman, how does your flame burn? Does it burn high or does it wane as you walk down life’s road?
Paul reminds us in Ephesians 5 “… walk wisely”, and he warns us through his references to Isaiah
“Awake you who sleep, Arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”
We have been called to the Light and we are to walk as children of the Light.
It is our choice to serve God or serve another for Matthew 6:24 emphasizes we cannot serve two masters. We cannot seek to please men; we must seek to please God as Paul stresses in Gal 1. Luke 16:13b also stresses “…You cannot serve God and mammon.” Do you understand what mammon means? Have you ever thought about how you serve? We have a command, a duty, to be His light and to reach out to those lost and in need ─ to tell others the Good News of Jesus Christ. He is our hope, the Redeemer, who reconciles us to God Almighty. Jesus’ character shows God’s character─His nature of love and compassion and forgiveness. Jesus sets this example for us to follow for we are God’s children. We too must love with compassion and forgiveness so we can obey His command. Therefore, those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. May your walk be joyful and tears of gladness fill your life.
