Purpose: The world is full of people immersed in the search for truth and they are drowning in ignorance which is the lack of the word of God and the Salvation given through the blood of Jesus Christ. Drowning Souls provides a message to the believers and to the lost.
Isaiah 24:5-6 informs us of our state of being in God’s eyes:
“The earth lies defiled under its inhabitants; for they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore a curse devours the earth, and its inhabitants suffer for their guilt;”
Jesus is the Living Water who Gives Eternal Life
The swirling water symbolizes the absence of the re-born spirit as it demonstrates the opposite of the Living water Jesus offers which brings forth His peace and eternal life. The heads represent the lost individuals, with a dead spirit and separated from God, as they swim and swirl through the day-to-day activities of life. Do you relate to the swirling water and heads in some way?
Each agonizing soul searches for the reason why everything fails to give satisfaction. Seeking more never obtain completion. He ponders, and builds up material wealth ─ yet his soul never reaches a satisfying goal. The emptiness fills more and more of the soul as it seeks out what it strives to obtain. The pain of life increases as the empty heart lacks a re-born spirit to reunite with the Creator. These figures are nothing but shadow hulls of what they could be. They drift and float aimlessly hunting the whys to their inner dissatisfaction. Some laugh, say “I am happy, I have what I need, and I increase my income. I can buy and I can earn more.” Others walk a path of drugs, resort to hurting others by violent means, or blame the world because they hurt and cry inward but instead lash out in retaliation. All listen to the evil whisperers and act in an unloving response. They perceive everything as a threat or conviction. These souls have no Light; they cannot see or hear. They experience the separation from God that leads to hopeless tomorrows and yesterdays. In time, death arrives to take them away, lost forever, unless you or I reach out as commanded. Some will listen and receive and others will scoff and walk away to death eternal. In Isaiah 9:1-2,6 the group that denies the living God and His Son, Jesus, will drown in the false idols and wickedness of the world.
The splashes or strips of red express the precious atoning blood of Jesus, our Lamb, cruelly crucified on the cross. He took our sins through forgiving grace with His blood and now it covers us by His righteousness.
When I see the color red, it always makes me think of Jesus’ love and the blood He shed on the cross to take my sins. When I wear the color red, it reminds me I am covered by grace through His blood and have been reborn spiritually. What does the color red mean to you in your daily life?
We all have been called to witness and provide the method by which to rescue the drowning souls.
Jesus said for us to go testify and obey His commands. Without our testimony the lost have no knowledge, and it will be to our shame if we fail as the hands, the feet, and the mouth of Jesus. Therefore, brethren as in Mathew 9:37,38
“ …he said to His disciples, The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest.”
